Also Known As:

Description:

There are three main types of headache: The vast majority of headaches are not of a serious nature:

  • Vascular – migraines, high blood pressure, and headaches associated with high temperature

  • Muscle contraction (tension) – these result from the person holding their shoulders and neck in a tense manner as a result of bad posture, anxiety or stress

  • Inflammatory - these are ones which are a symptom of a problem i.e. meningitis

Most headaches can be relieved by over the counter medicines. If however it is of a chronic (persistent) nature or sudden in onset with sickness medical help should be sought.
